MYSHALL DRUMPHEA SPORTS COUNCIL

Established in 2000 to manage and take control of ‘The Ranch’ sports-field on behalf of the community of Myshall Drumphea. The Sports Council has a committee of over twenty members who represent the various sports clubs and organisations in the Parish who are entitled to use the ‘Ranch’. Members come from St. Finian's AC & Myshall Community Games, Naomh Eoin GAA, Míseal Juvenile GAA, Myshall Camogie, Myshall Ladies Football Club, Myshall Sportsman's Club, Blackstairs Vintage Society, Myshall Soccer Club, Garryhill Handball Club, and Myshall Equestrian Club. Membership is also open to any new sports clubs or recreational organisations that may start up in the area in the future provided that they meet the criteria of the Sports Council.

“The Ranch” sports-field is a unique property of 14 acres which was acquired in 1961 by the then Muintir na Tíre from The Land Commission for 100 pounds and held in Trust for the people of Myshall Drumphea as a non denominational sports-field for use by all. Indeed the history of the “Ranch” as a sports-field goes back to the early days of the last century when the then Landlords of the area allowed its use for sports activities.

Myshall Drumphea Sports Council Ltd act as an umbrella body for all who use the ‘The Ranch’. It is hoped to carefully develop the area and it’s facilities over time. For the present a 14-acre green field wholly owned by the community, for use by all sports clubs & organisations is quite an asset for any community or parish.
